Arthritis care
The local branch usually meets on the second Tuesday each month at the United Reformed Church.
Arthritis is a generic term covering a range of diseases of which the most common are rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis causes the joints to become swollen, as a result of inflammation in the joint linings. Osteoarthritis is caused by the wearing away of the cartilage of the joints.
Both these forms are a common disease of old age, and create pain and mobility problems for those suffering from them.
However, there are many other types and people of any age may be affected. A number of charities support those living with the condition of which Arthritis Care is one.
